From ancient times, sage leaves were considered a symbol of eternal life. The word sage comes from the Latin word "salvus"- healthy. In former Czechoslovakia, a variety for pharmaceutical purposes was bred: Salvia officinalis "Krajová". Usually, large-leaved nutmeg (Salvia sclarea L.) is grown quite often. It is a biennial plant, its flowers smell similar to nutmeg. It is mainly used in cosmetics.
Wild variety of sage: sage (Salvia verticallata L.), sage with sticky leaves that blooms yellow (Salvia glutinosa L.), sage (Salvia divinorum), white sage (Salvia apiana). Sage multi-root, so-called Danshan or Asian sage - is used in hair care. We use garden cultivars (pineapple, melon, large-leaved, Indian, Aztec, Chinese, etc.) only as ornamental plants, not as medicinal plants. It comes from the Mediterranean and was spread to northern Europe by the Benedictines. It was grown in the monastery gardens as medicine and spices for meals. It can therefore, withstand much more heat and drought than our original herbs. She is also doing well in large pots.
History
It was a sacred plant for the Romans, they used it for many diseases. The Greeks dedicated it to the highest deities, and they also used healing to a large extent. Sage is also mentioned in the Bible. It was widely used in the Middle Ages: it stimulated digestion, flatulence, convulsions, epilepsy, paralysis, and exhaustion. In times of plague epidemics with vinegar as a mouth wash, added sage rosemary, honeysuckle, cinnamon. Hildegard of Bingen said (in Physika) /: “Sage is warm and dry, it grows more out of the solar heat than from the earth's moisture. And it is beneficial against sick mucus because it dries it out. Therefore, it should be cooked or eaten raw by someone who is troubled by harmful juices. Sage will suppress them. The American Indians considered white sage to be the holiest plant. They smoked it during sacred rituals, and shamans used it to travel to other worlds.

The spiritual message, signature
"Why does a person die when he has sage in the garden?" Italian doctors asked. The plant is dedicated to the supreme god Jupiter, who maintains the laws of life and death. It has in it the wisdom of the eternal cycle of birth and death. Her advice is: take your place on Earth and live in joy. Open up to unlimited possibilities, either as a child who is constantly looking forward to the next day. Don't worry about what you can't influence, let things happen, become part of them, not an obstacle. Perceive the perfect harmony of the arrangement of things, the unity of everything, peace, which is the basis of inner joy. Then you will find the meaning of your life, your place in the world. You will be happy to fulfill your tasks. It will not be duties, but a creative process, discovery, and play.

Sage is friendly but strict. Its narrow leathery leaves resemble the spine and network of nerves. The spine is the firm axis of our soft body. Every deviation from the way, every lie, falsehood is punished by pain. While the picture of intention is not clear, the purity of intention is not verified, we learn through our own painful experience. The more we perceive the connection with our own nature, with our soul, the less suffering we experience. The price is high, the way to it is not easy. We are moving towards the deepest secrets and the most passionate connection. Bare heart offered on the altar for the highest purpose. Connection, completion, integrity. The smell of sage accompanies us to spiritual levels that are well known to us. It helps me remember who we are and where we came from.
